Catch-22

Catch-22: Indymedia internet servers in London have been disappeared into U.S. custody, but we don't know where they went or who took them, as the hosting company refuses to tell us. We can't generate any corporate media interest because there are not enough facts available to make a coherent story, but unless we can generate interest we will never be able to put enough pressure on the authorities to get any facts out of them. The pictures the FBI didn't want you to see!

Here is some of the background to the FBI's extraordinary seizure of indymedia hard drives in the UK. We don't yet know why they were seized, and indymedia's provider Rackspace has been gagged. It is an interesting coincidence that the European Social Forum in London starts next week. One of the things taken off-air was 'Radio RampArt', set up to provide coverage of the ESF:  http://radio.uk1.indymedia.org:8800/rampART, still off-air when I tried. The FBI's latest anti-free-press actions began at the beginning of October when they visited Indymedia's ISP demanding the removal of identifying information from photographs of undercover police officers that was posted on the Nantes Indymedia website. Below are the relevant pictures of Swiss undercover cops, who were spying on anti-G8 activists. Read more >>

Fairford Coaches go to the Court of Appeal

Stills from the film
The British Court of Appeal is hearing the case of 120 coach passengers who had their human rights violated on 22 March 2003 when they tried to attend an anti-war demonstration. The passengers were prevented from attending the demonstration by police who searched the coaches, then turned the passengers away from the legal demonstration, and illegally detained the passengers for more than 2 hours. This is first time the Human Rights Act has been used in Britain to challenge a police detentions of activists. Read more >>

POLICE INTIMIDATION REACHES FARCE-LEVEL AT CAMPSFIELD IMMIGRATION PRISON.

Sergeant Rigley (circled)
DO THEY WANT TO STOP US DEMONSTRATING AT CAMPSFIELD ALTOGETHER?

The police have, in the last few months, started to use intimidating tactics against what are normally peaceful and not very large demonstrations at Campsfield immigration prison. On the latest one, the intimidation reached heights of absurdity. Read more >>
