Oxford Indymedia Groups and Contact

Oxford Indymedia is a network of groups and volunteers around Oxford. Here is a brief list of contact details. Please get involved if you want, help is always needed!

Oxford Indymedia is also part of the United Kollektives. Therefore, you can also refer to the United Kollektives contact list to get in touch with Indymedia on the UK level.

Please be aware that all imc-oxford lists are publicly archived, which means that anyone can read your mail online.

General Enquiries

Please send all general enquiries to the Oxford Indymedia email list: imc-oxford at lists.indymedia.org

General Discussion

To take part in general discussion please subscribe to our publicly archived imc-oxford list.

Reports, Features and Newswire (i.e. content of the site)

Reports

If you want to submit a report via email, because you have a slow connection or are too lazy to fill in the upload form, mail to our publicly archived imc-oxford-features list: imc-oxford-features at lists.indymedia.org.

Features

This is also the mailing list where middle column stories for Oxford Indymedia are proposed. Anyone can propose a short introduction to an event or a newswire report: mail it to imc-oxford-features at lists-indymedia.org. The text should be concise, and a title, the links and preferably a photo link should be included. This story can be uploaded if nobody objects to it within 24 hours.

Newswire

This mailing list is also used to notice the members when and for what reason an article in the newswire has been hidden (according to the editorial guidelines). If someone objects to it the decision can be revised. If you have an objection, mail it to imc-oxford-features at lists-indymedia.org. Furthermore, anyone can propose to hide an article that does not follow the Oxford Indymedia editorial guidelines on this mailing list; mail your suggestion to the list.

Technical Issues

To discussing technical matters concerning Oxford Indymedia, such as the choice of a new Content Management System, contact imc-oxford-tech at lists-indymedia.org.

This is the right place for discussing things like flashy new website gimmicks, technical problems and solutions, and the merits or otherwise of particular technology choices. You can also send mail here if you need technical help.

Links to local groups

If you have an idea for a local grassroots group or organisation for us to link to, please send your suggestions to imc-oxford-features at lists.indymedia.org. Someone will add it if no-one objects within 24hrs.

Cross-communication in the United Kollektives

Any proposals for changes in the United Kollektives site or working practices should be submitted and discussed in the imc-uk-process list.

Plans for meeting, first ideas for projects, and any other things concerning the local Indymedias in the United Kollektives are discussed in the imc-uk-network list.

Getting involved

If you want to get involved but this page isn't helping much in making up your mind, check out Getting Involved at global Indymedia. If you register to the page, a trust-worthy person (probably one of us :-) will contact you privately and try to give a better idea.

The global Indymedia project operates through a system of email lists, dedicated to geographical areas or specific projects. See the world's complete list of imc mailing lists.

Privacy

Email, if not encrypted, should be thought of as a postcard. Even postings to private lists that are not publicly archived can be read by the authorities. For internet privacy tools check epic.org. Postings to publicly archived lists can be found through a search engine (like google) very easily. Try this google search to see how google indexes list archives.

To prevent spam, email addresses on this page are given in the format name at domain.org, not in the usual name@domain.org format. Just fill in the @.
