Green councillor excludes community activists - not the first time!

Unfortunately the incident reported below during carnival ( http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/oxford/2008/07/402956.html &  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/oxford/2008/07/403027.html) is not the first time city councillor Mary-Jane Sareva has evicted people from a democratically-run community centre for no good reason at all, and with dubious authority. On Sunday at EOCC Mary-Jane Sareva refused to engage in dialog and instead rapidly resorted to violence and intimidation to resolve the issue – when that failed she resorted to lying to the police. Read more >>

Green councillor has local community activists arrested

A 'green' councillor in Oxford encouraged police to arrest two people on false charges merely for insisting on their rights to access the local community centre, a space which both of them have worked hard as volunteers to support and develop. There is an ongoing story of Cllr Mary-Jane Sareva trying to extend her control over the centre. Read more >>
