Reclaim the Cowley Rd Carnvial on Sunday

Are we happy with the officially sanctioned corporately sponsored festival in the park and paying to see commercial musicians? Don't we miss the localness and simple vibe of the Cowley Rd Carnival? If David Cameron wants us to have street parties, why don't we just have them?

Our carnival's been stolen ... let's steal it back! Read more >>

Poster/flyer for July's OARC film screening

Who are these people that call themselves hackers? Those that believe that technology exists to be appropriated and subverted for whatever purpose? Those who oppose corporate control over inventions? If you part with good money for something, is it not yours to do what you will with it? Not according to the likes of Microsoft, Apple, Sony and their ilk… Read more >>

Hounded out (Oxford)

The Fox and Hounds pub has been derelict for four years and Tesco want to build yet another store there. This is a depressing example of the destruction of our communities by an increasingly individualistic society. On 5th December a large group took back the space and started turning it into a social centre.

Radcliffe reclaimed (Oxford)

In Oxford, 500 people gathered on Cornmarket to protest against cuts to education, and ended up occupying the famous Bodlean Library for over 28 hours. Students from local schools and colleges joined those from Oxford Uni, Brookes and Ruskin.

Notes from an Occupier (Oxford)

It is now 24 hours since we (the protesters) were evicted from the Radcliffe Camera library, part of the beautiful and no doubt invaluable Bodleian library. In that time, all I seem to have done is talk, write and read about the student and public protests, which are sweeping the country. I’ve also had time to process everything that happened and come to some conclusions about why direct action against education and public sector cuts, conducted peacefully (not to be confused with quietly) is absolutely justified and necessary.
