LOCAL PEOPLE PREVENTED FROM PROTESTING AS TREES ARE FELLED AT LINSLADE ROAD PROT

Today heavy handed security guards from Reliance Security [1] closed off the B4032 between Soulbury and Linslade between Dollar Farm and Valley Farm to fell mature trees, in a pre-planned raid for work on the Stoke Hammond and Linslade Western Bypass [2]. Local campaigners were prevented from going to the area, and were man-handled by security guards. One man was carried off the roadside verge, in front of his 2-year old son. He was also prevented from taking photographs of the destruction [3]. Read more >>

INJUNCTION GRANTED AND CHALLENGED AT LINSLADE

A totally draconian Injunction was granted after a secret hearing on Friday 28th January banning "Persons Unknown" from protesting - at all! The worst parts of it were successfully challenged today in the High Court. Read more >>

LINSLADE CAMP UNDERMANNED AND FACING CLOSURE.

More people are urgently needed to man the camp that has been set up on the Linslade Bypass Route. To date we have been able to sustain a rota of a minimum of two people per night. A decision will be made on Sunday as to whether the camp can continue, if the rota for next week remains unfilled it is likely it will close. Read more >>

LINSLADE BYPASS ACTION HOTS UP

The controversial Linslade bypass has started to attract large interest from the media as photographers from the national newspapers and television have started turning up on site wanting to do interviews at the newly formed camp and occupied tree house. Reports leaked from the local media said that Buckinghamshire Council have had crisis meetings with the police and other councils that have been in a similar situation and are expecting another Newbury. They are also talking to their legal department over the rights to squat the camp and to see what laws they can use to stop the protesters Read more >>

CONTRACTORS SUSPEND WORKS AT LINSLADE BYPASS DUE TO PROTESTS

Work on the controversial Stoke Hammond to Linslade bypass has been temporarily halted due to the pressures of protests, local campaigners have just learned. Buckinghamshire County Council have said that work has been suspended on police advice while the security situation is reviewed. This follows the arrest yesterday of two women who chained themselves to a an excavator, with other local people standing in front of chainsaw crews. Local residents who turned up to stop any work this morning witnessed the machinery being loaded up and removed from the area. Buckinghamshire County Council have had an emergency meeting, and have told Friends of the Earth that work is to be suspended for several days.
