It is PRINCESS DI!

George Tugwell | 17.07.2008 10:32 | Culture | Oxford

WOW it is PRINCESS DI - well I never though I'd see her looking like that !

Squashed 'Di' & 'Sadam'

What an amazing piece of artwork, I think it makes a serious comment on the portrayal of celebrities, the fact that you can buy a latex mask of these two contrasting icons of modern tabloid media, is quite bazaar.

It reminds me of the stunt that I think was Prince William dressing up as a Nazi for a fancy dress party a few years back.

It's great to see artists questioning the nature of what we see on the media platform.

WELL DONE to all those for supporting such art projects. Let's have more of it.

George

Strangely seductive ?

After a second look, I got the idea, very much a piece of work to challenge and provoke thought as to who we see and how we see people in the media. These two fallen giants one a national hero and the other a national villain - a strange yet memorable combination.

Shirin of Leopold Street.

p.s. they look even more impressive at night lit up.

Shirin

I'd like to out the artists as fomerly middle class public schoolboys.

I'm pretty sure if I did that I could sell an article to a newspaper of the unrivalled quality of "The Daily Mail" and not only pay my rent for the Summer months, but keep myself in crack cocaine & dissuade quality commercial editors from pursuing stories of a BDSM Formula 1 nature or plastering posters of missing kids all over Europe.

...is a reference to the alleged ex-neighbour of the street artist banksy.
he came out and said banksy was an ex public schoolboy, nice lad don't know what got into him kinda thing ya-da-ya-da...
...and about the art, its not normally my cup of tea but i have found a certain fondness in the manner that the artist has caught t'old Di

This is the third time you've posted an indymedia article about those particular pictures.. why the repetitive fascination?!?

Please don't subject us all to the same story again unless you really have something new to say. Thanks.
