...they're always worth checking out, your of oxford graf.

by the way, if you ever get the chance, check out the wall art in Lisbon, Portugal. stunning, huge pieces all over the place. also untouched are some huge murals painted during the the revolution in 1974-75, and finally, plenty of anarchist graf, free mumia etc, in the better areas to go drinking...

best of luck

yes, full marks for being decorative but compare subject matter here

and then consider what your next project should be

You'd be surprised about attitudes - we were. I was pretty pro graff to start with, but since we were recording interviews (for assessment) we have to be careful how we asked questions. We stood next to the public toilets on cowley road and also next to some tags near leopold street (probably now removed). There were very few who objected to the murals - most people (probably over 2/3rds) were favourable towards it. Tags were not positively received, but what surprised us was that people actually didn't really care about it either; common response: "well its part of cowley road like, init?".

Actually the only people who really hated it was the man who removed the graffiti (who would ironically have been without a job had there been no graffiti - think the man was a bit thick to be honest), and the council (who have a small division based up in Cowley dealing with it). The council hated it, but as they are pro's as see that their jobs depend on it, treat it very much as their jobs.

The way the government goes on about graffiti, you would think it was issue number 1, or at least near the top. Seemed from our small and random sample that this was not, uniformly, the case.
