8THANNUALHUMANRIGHTSFILMFESTIVAL
26th February - 5th March 2010

This year, the Human Rights Film Festival encompasses a broad sweep of topics, including torture, sexuality, workers' rights and people trafficking and with geo-specific issues such as Burma, Rwanda, Israel & Palestine, Kenya and Western Sahara. It promises to be as wide-ranging as it is engaging. From feature films and documentaries to shorts and animation, the Human Rights Film Festival 2010 is featuring the best, newest and most diverse selection fo cinematic activism yet seen in Oxford.

In addition, this year's line-up includes talks from heads if NGOs (Charles Clayton), activists (Ko Aung) and scholars (Hugo Slim), we also have Ghada Ageel, a refugee from Gaza, and Guantanamo detainee Omar Deghayes coming to speak.

If that wasn't enough, we have a night of short films commissioned by Ctrl+Alt+Shift, a fantastic launch night party with music from hip hop and spoken word artist Dizraeli, soul beauty Sarah Williams White and swing-folksters Toyface and the Crash!Bang!Boom! Plus the directors of documentaries Saharawi and Outside the Law: Stories from Guantanamo will be discussing their films.

And finally, the festival begins with a pre-launch event 'The Burma Play' theatre production at the North Wall Arts Centre, Summertown on the evening of Friday 19 Feb 2010.

What else can we say? Oh yes - it's all FREE!
